Almost Sour is my own imagined record label. Like much of my creative inspiration I dreamt it up. One morning I woke from a dream in which I was starting a record label. The dream supplied me with name and the basic concept for the logo: A chess piece, specifically the knight and a slice of lemon. I’m really not sure where they came from, but actually the semantics of them work well; the knight is the only piece that can jump, making it individual and exciting. Lemons are fresh and colourful and of course sour. Their circular nature works well for sitting in the centre of a vinyl. Who knows what sort of music I’d sign. I’d like to think it would be based on quality rather than style, and transcend genre like the ever brilliant XL Recordings.
